STAFFING

 

Practice Manager

Mrs Julie Swaffer is the Practice Manager at Churchwood and is responsible for the overall running of the practice. If you have any suggestions or complaints, please put them in writing to her and she will be happy to address them

 

Administrator

Mrs Helen Smith is our Administrator. Helen is responsible for recalling patients who have chronic diseases for their annual check up’s, payroll and deputising for the Practice Manager

 

Receptionists

The reception team are here to help. They have a very demanding job to do with enquiries and requests coming from all direct ions. When a patient telephones for advice, the receptionist may ask you to give details of your problem, please don’t feel they are being ‘nosey’, the doctors have asked the receptionists to obtain as much information as possible so they know best how to help you. If you wish to speak in private with anybody at the practice, please just ask.

 

Nurse Practitioner

Our Nurse Practitioner, Dee Kellett, works Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, morning and afternoons. Dee is a qualified nurse with extra training skills, she is able to prescribe medications and refer patients to Consultants. If you have a minor ailment or infection, please book in with Dee wherever possible.

 

Practice Nurses

We have two trained Practice Nurses who can carry out a vast amount of tests and procedures.

 

Counsellor

Churchwood has two regular counsellors from the Primary Care Team, they both work on a Tuesday; one mornings and the other in the  afternoon. See your GP if you feel you need a referral to this service.

 

Health care Assistant

We have a Health Care Assistant who is qualified to carry out certain tests and health checks on our patients. If you need to have the following please book in with the Health Care Assistant.

  • New patient check
  • Removal of sutures
  • Follow up smoking cessation
  • Blood Pressure
  • Spirometry test
  • Weight check
  • Dressings

Midwife

Although we currently have an antenatal clinic run by the Community Midwives, midwifery services are currently under review in East Sussex. It is envisaged that Midwives will not continue with their clinics within GP Practices in the future. We will keep you informed of the new changes once we know.

 

Health Visitors

Health Visitors are trained in child care and are mainly involved in the care of children under 5. If you require any advice about your child and his / her development the health Visitor would be happy to advise you. They can be contacted on Tel: 717608

 

Community Nurses

The Community Nurses are employed by the PCT but are attached to our surgery. They visit patients who are unable to get to the surgery and who need care for conditions such as daily dressings and chronic illnesses.

 

Other Community Services at the practice

From time to time we allow some community services or projects to use our consulting rooms for the benefit of our patients. These services can offer anything from Physical exercise to mobile heart scanning. We will keep our patients informed of any services we have to offer as and when they occur.
