TRAINING PRACTICE

GP Registrar

As part of our team of doctors we frequently have a doctor join us for a period of six to twelve months. These are fully trained doctors who are undergoing a further three years postgraduate training before joining a practice as a partner. The three years includes periods spent in general practice and in hospitals.

The practice needs to be regularly inspected for this purpose and this involves inspection of the medical records. Only doctors approved for this purpose  will do this and they will respect completely the confidentiality of the information.

If you do not want your records to be available for inspection then please inform the practice of your wishes.

Sometimes the doctor may wish to video record their consultations and in this case your permission will always be requested beforehand.

Trainee Nurses
The Community Nurses sometimes have a trainee nurse accompany them on home visits, this is a valuable part of a nurses training.

We also train nurses in the Practice, these are sometimes already qualified nurses who are extending their skills within General Practice or in the community. You will be advised before your consultation if there is a nurse observing the doctor in his clinic, if you do not want the nurse present you are free to say so

Phlebotomist

We have our own Phlebotomy service at Churchwood, Jill is our Phlebotomist and Yvette, our HCA also takes blood. If you are unable to get to the surgery through illness or disability Jill can arrange to come to your home to take blood, please telephone the surgery to make an appointment.
